How we check facts
Sources, in the order we trust them
- Government and regulator pages: the Federal Tax Authority, u.ae, the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, Dubai's consumer protection service, the Dubai Media Office.
- Scheme operators on their own schemes, such as Planet on tourist VAT.
- Law firm summaries and named newspaper reports, attributed and dated.
Older reports are marked as old. A report that predates the current law doesn't count as the current rule.
When sources disagree
We show the disagreement and say which source we follow and why. A government page can be out of date too: we say so neutrally and tell you who to confirm with.
What we couldn't confirm
If we can't find a rule, we write that we can't. We don't fill the gap from memory, from a consultant's sales page, or from last year's date.
Law text
Some article numbers come from law firm notes and newspaper legal columns rather than our own reading of the law. Where that's the case, the guide attributes them.
What we won't do
- Publish invented people, quotes, reviews, statistics or case studies.
- Rank shops, malls, jewellers or payment apps.
- Give legal, financial or investment advice.
- Imitate a government service, or use an emblem or event logo.
Corrections
If something is wrong or out of date, tell us. We check it against the source, fix confirmed errors and note material corrections on the page.
